Prevent Sunburn When Vacationing in Hawaii
Tuesday, August 24th, 2010If you will be spending your upcoming vacation in the islands of Hawaii then you probably want to bring home souvenirs that will always remind you of your tropical getaway. However, one souvenir that you won’t want to bring back home with you is a nasty case of sunburn. Since Hawaii is very close to the equator, it is inevitable that you will be getting plenty of sun. Here are some ways to make sure you avoid sunburn.
* The most important thing you need to remember is to wear sunscreen with a high SPF or sun protection factor. If you are used to wearing a sunscreen with SPF 15 at home, the Hawaiian sun will require you to wear sunscreen of at least SPF 30. If you have fair skin that easily burns, you might even have to wear something higher than SPF 50.
* Protect your lips as well. Your face and body are not the only ones that protection from the sun’s harsh rays. You might also want to wear lip balm that has sunscreen in it. Too much exposure to the sun can rob your lips of moisture and cause them to dry out.
* Even if you are wearing sunscreen already, you might still want to wear a hat with a wide rim to protect your eyes from the glare of the sun.
